Project Information Literacy released a new report on Covid-19: The first 100 days of U.S. news coverage which analyzes the shape of the news about the virus, and its visual representation. As the abstract says, "Applying a critical lens to how the news constructs our understanding of events develops information agency and makes individuals more discerning news consumers." The report comes with a number of information literacy and news literacy lessons on both the shape of the news and the visual messaging, as well as a set of resources on Covid-19 misinformation.
The report examines some interesting and under-discussed nuances of information literacy, within the context of a highly relevant topic.
