SUNY Broome has 2 very large subscriptions to (mostly) downloadable ebooks. Ebooks can always be viewed using the web browser on a computer, but if you would like to download an ebook to your laptop or tablet, many ebooks are enabled for download. However, vendors are very strict with their licensing and downloading is not as simple as "one click."
Not all ebooks will have a "download" link. These ebooks will only be available to read within a web browser.
Generally you can follow each step after clicking "download" but there are some preparatory steps you should complete before attempting to download an ebook:
- For EBSCO eBooks, Create an EBSCO personal account for ebooks though EBSCOhost. Via the EBSCO page, click "sign in" (upper right corner), then choose "create a new account"
- For ebrary eBooks, know your network username and ID for ebooks though ebrary Academic Complete Collection
What kind of device are you using?
For a PC
- Create a Adobe Digital Editions ID - New Account
- Download and install Adobe Digital Editions (desktop or laptop) Download Page
For iOS or Android devices
- Get the EBSCO eBooks app through the App Store or Google Play
For a Kindle
- Create a Adobe Digital Editions ID - New Account
- Download and install Bluefire Reader (ebrary will provide a link to Google Play)
- create a PDF and use "Send to Kindle" for EBSCO ebooks
After you are set up, search for ebooks using the ebook search tool:
