Open Educational Resources (OER) collections

  • SUNY OER Ready-to-Adopt Courses - digital course materials and related instructional technologies available through SUNY
  • LibreCommons - hosts curated Open Educational Resources from all 14 LibreTexts libraries in one convenient location
  • Lumen Learning: Open Courseware - catalog of open courses developed and maintained by Lumen
  • Lumen Community Courses - catalog of open courses developed by colleges and hosted by Lumen
  • OpenStax College - develops and publishes peer-reviewed open textbooks, mainly for introductory courses
  • OER Commons - database of OER, also a professional network and authoring platform
  • Open Educational Resources (OER) Directory - organizes open resources by discipline
  • Open Textbook Library - database of faculty-reviewed open textbooks from the Center for Open Education and the Open Textbook Network
  • MERLOT - Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching, offers peer reviewed online teaching and learning materials
  • Oasis - Openly Available Sources Integrated Search (OASIS) is a search tool that aims to make the discovery of open content easier. OASIS currently searches open content from 114 different sources and contains 440,452 records.

  1. Adoption Finder: a spreadsheet of Open Textbooks being used in Post-Secondary Courses in British Columbia
  2. American Institute of Mathematics Approved Textbooks - open math textbooks approved by AIM
  3. CC Search - finds media, images, music, and video released under Creative Commons licenses
  4. CALI (Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction) - hosts and facilitates the creation of a library of over 1,000 interactive legal tutorials
  5. Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER) - promotes the awareness and adoption of open educational policies, practices, and resources
  6. CORA, the Community of Open Research Assignments - repository of open assignments
  7. Diverse images of people - a collection of sites hosting openly-licensed or royalty-free diverse images of people
  8. B.C. Open Collection - British Columbia Open Textbook Project
  9. FreeBooks4Doctors - open access medical books
  10. FreeTechBooks - Texts and lecture notes for computer science and related topics
  11. Free to Learn Guide/Index of OER Resources - wiki hosted by Creative Commons linking to other OER projects

  15. Lumen Achieving the Dream OER Degree Initiative Catalog - open courses developed for the AtD OER Initiative and hosted by Lumen
  16. Lumen Boundless OER Course Archive - archive of open courses formerly curated by Boundless
  17. Lumen Community Course Catalog - a collection of open courses developed by colleges and hosted by Lumen
  18. Mason OER Metafinder - searches several OER repositories at once
  19. Milne Open Textbooks - a catalog of open textbooks authored and peer-reviewed by SUNY faculty and staff.
  20. MIT Open Courseware - materials from MIT courses at MIT, including video/audio lectures, lecture notes, online textbooks, and interactive simulations
  21. National Academies Press - publishing division of the National Academy of Sciences, offers many titles for free download in the PDF format
  22. Noba Project - collection of flexibly structured textbooks and educational materials
  23. OER by Discipline - lists a broad range of open educational resources organized by disciplines at McMaster University
  24. Open Book Publishers - makes their books available for online reading at no cost, with charges for download or print options.
  25. Open Course Library - a collection of shareable course materials, including syllabi, course activities, readings, and assessments designed by teams of college faculty, instructional designers, librarians, and other experts
  26. Open Educational Resources in Economics - a handbook for Economics lecturers from the University of Bristol
  27. Open Learning Initiative - online courses from CMU
  28. Open Michigan – University of Michigan portal, contains many syllabi
  29. Open Oregon - lists Oregon community college courses and the OER used for each course
  30. Open Textbooks - Kwantlen Polytechnic University, British Columbia, keeps a list of open textbooks by subject
  31. Open Textbooks for Engineering - listing of open textbooks by engineering discipline, from the ASEE Engineering Library Division
  32. Open Washington - OER portal from the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges
  33. PhET - open, interactive simulations for science and mathematics
  34. QUBES - a community of math and biology educators who share resources and methods for preparing students to use quantitative approaches to tackle real, complex, biological problems.
  35. Saylor Academy Open Textbooks - 100+ free textbooks
  36. Skills Commons - an online library of OER and program support materials from the  Department of Labor’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) program 
  37. SOL*R Shareable Online Learning Resources - includes resources from a variety of disciplines, ranging from textbooks to learning activities and tools
  38. Teaching Commons - open textbooks, course materials, lesson plans, multimedia, and more, curated by academic librarians
  39. UTA Open Educational Resources -guide to OER, developed for University of Texas Arlington

  41. Yale Open Courses - mostly lectures, plus syllabi, supplementary readings, and problem sets
