This agreement pertains to the voluntary participation of Faculty members in the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER). OER are defined as resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits repurposing by others.
If the faculty member agrees to adopt OER as the primary learning materials for their course, the SUNY Broome will provide a $500 award, made available through SUNY OER Funding.
Priority will be given to courses enrolling multiple sections students (SUNY is prioritizing “high-enrollment General Education courses). Faculty who adopt OER for multiple courses should submit one agreement for each course.
Faculty seeking help finding OER materials are encouraged to contact Paul Bond at the SUNY Broome Library.
By signing and accepting, you are agreeing that the primary required learning materials for the course mentioned in this agreement will be OER. Additional expectations include:
- An intention to maintain the converted course as OER for three years
- Willingness to share enrollment information with SUNY OER Services
- Willingness to consider participation in a future OER research study by the University at Buffalo
Awards will be made at the discretion of the OER Steering Committee, and based upon the availability of funds. The Committee may consider various factors including but not limited to cost of supplemental materials and aggregate student savings on textbook costs.
Completed agreements should be sent to Paul Bond (bondph@sunybroome.edu).
